Temporary roofs and
roofing access scaffolding

Scaffold-mounted temporary roof systems and roofing access for refurbishment, weather protection, and phased works. NASC accredited, TG20:21 compliant.

What this covers

SSG Scaffolding designs and installs scaffold-mounted temporary roof systems and roofing access scaffolds. Temporary roofs protect buildings and works from weather during refurbishment, while roofing access scaffolds provide safe working platforms and edge protection for roof-level work, including on fragile roofs.

Temporary roofs are engineered structures. We provide bespoke design supported by structural engineer calculations, accounting for wind loading, snow loading where relevant, and the span and pitch of the temporary roof. Design certificates are issued for these structures. Keder and proprietary temporary roof systems are installed by CISRS-carded scaffolders to the design specification.

For fragile roofs, access and protection are designed specifically to the roof type, with working platforms and fall protection that allow safe access without reliance on the roof surface.

Applications & use cases

  • Keder roof systems and scaffold-mounted temporary roofs providing full weather protection during roof refurbishment and structural works.
  • Weather protection for buildings undergoing refurbishment where the roof is open or being replaced.
  • Sequenced, phased roof access for large or occupied buildings where the roof must be worked in stages.
  • Fragile roof considerations - access and protection systems designed for fragile roof surfaces, with appropriate working platforms and fall protection.
  • Roof-edge access and edge protection for pitched and flat roof work.

FAQs

What is a scaffold-mounted temporary roof?

A temporary roof is an engineered weather-protection structure mounted on a scaffold, often using Keder or proprietary systems, that keeps a building and the works beneath it dry while the permanent roof is open or being replaced.

Do you design temporary roofs?

Yes. Temporary roofs are engineered structures - we provide bespoke design supported by structural engineer calculations for wind and snow loading, span, and pitch, with a design certificate issued.

Can you provide access to fragile roofs?

Yes. We design access and protection specifically for fragile roof types, with working platforms and fall protection that avoid reliance on the roof surface.

Can roof access be phased?

Yes. For large or occupied buildings we sequence roof access in stages to suit the works programme and site constraints.

Are your operatives CISRS qualified?

Yes. All temporary roof and access scaffolding is installed, altered, and dismantled by CISRS-carded scaffolders.

What areas do you cover?

Head office in Hull with operational hubs across England.
