TG20:21 compliance as standard, with independent structural engineer design and certification for the non-standard and high-load configurations complex projects demand.
Not every scaffold is standard. Cantilevers, bridges, gantries, temporary roofs, high-load industrial access, and complex geometries all fall outside standard configurations and require designed solutions. SSG Scaffolding provides scaffold design across this full range, combining TG20:21 compliance for standard work with bespoke structural design for everything beyond it.
For standard scaffold configurations, we work to TG20:21 - the NASC’s technical guidance and the recognised compliance framework for tube-and-fitting scaffolding. TG20:21 compliance confirms a scaffold falls within proven, documented good practice, and we issue TG20 compliance documentation accordingly.
Where a configuration falls outside TG20:21, scaffold design is produced by qualified external structural engineers. Independent design is a deliberate choice: it provides clients and procurement teams with the assurance that non-standard scaffolds have been engineered and checked by structural specialists, with calculations and a design certificate issued for the configuration. This is the standard procurement teams expect for complex and high-load scaffolds.
Our design management process accounts for loadings, tie patterns, ground-bearing conditions, and the specific constraints of each site. Designs are produced, calculated, and certified before erection, and the scaffold is then built to the design specification by CISRS-carded scaffolders and inspected accordingly.
